Loesje (pronounce: Lucia) is for me the symbol of
development in an unthoughtful way. New neighbourhoods and
development projects are planned without planning green
areas. The typical way in which construction areas are
prepared for construction is by clear-cutting the whole lot.
Beautiful natural monuments, such as special species of
trees, are not saved. The consequence is that wild animals
are rapidly loosing their habitat.
In addition, Loesje is for me also the symbol of how humans,
without mercy, will take whatever they can for their own
enjoyment and benefit.
(see also the Te of Piglet). Animals with a young are
shot without any consideration and are eaten, leaving the
young to the mercy of the humans who often don’t really know
what to do with it. This threatens the survival of all kinds
of species.
With
and through Loesje I want to attempt to have children and
adults rediscover their bond with nature and their own
humanity and compassion. If we do not succeed in restoring
these bonds, we will threaten the survival of our own
species, the human race. |
